Great Pretenders Ignites Imaginations at The Princess Ball

Once upon a time, there was a mom troubled by the lack fun and imaginative toys for her children. Baffled by this, she set out on her ambitious journey to come up with creative, pretend-play toys that would light up any child’s imagination. Fast forward; her endeavours transcended into a vastly successful dress-up and costume business, Great Pretenders.

Great Pretenders and The Princess Ball

It is only fitting then that Great Pretenders would also strive to fulfill the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses and disabilities by donating to The Princess Ball. This year, the amazing folks at Great Pretenders have donated a stunning gown, cape, crown, shoes, necklace, and a perfect doll-sized replica of the dress to our children’s raffle. This whimsical and beautifully made prize will delight the winner, and raise a ton of money for Make-A-Wish Foundation of Canada.

If you would like to win this prize, among dozens of other exciting and fun items, don’t forget to pick up your children’s raffle tickets at the Ball on April 19th, only $10 for 5 tickets!

Welcome Back Wendy Leszkowicz Photography

Wendy Leszkowicz Photography will once again join us as an Official Photographer at The Princess Ball.

Last year, Wendy captured some magical moments at The Princess Ball. We are thrilled that she is able to join us again as an official photographer. If you see Wendy (you’ll know her by her big smile and big camera!) make sure you strike a pose. All photography taken at The Princess Ball will be available for our guests to download at their convenience through a password protected website. Passwords will be given to our guests after the event.

Photography is a passion for Wendy that started in 2005 when she got her very first Point and Shoot Canon. She remembers the anticipation of waiting to see the pictures and having tangible memories of the experience. Since then she has submerged herself in nature as well as landscape photography and most recently candid photography. Her camera is never far from reach and is a constant companion.

Introducing our first Princess Wish family

Princess Wish Family TaylorThe Princess Ball is an event filled with whimsy and wishes. We know there are children in our community who are facing health issues, and we always remember that these children are the reason behind the Ball – to make their wishes come true.

We launched the Princess Wish Ticket Grant Program last fall to give families with children with health concerns the opportunity to attend the Ball. Thanks to your generous donations, we are able to provide tickets to three families that have faced significant challenges, and give them a magical afternoon of fun and gentle entertainment.

Our first recipient is Taylor, 6, from Ajax Ontario. Taylor (pictured here with her twin sister Alicia) is currently undergoing treatment for leukemia. She was diagnosed in the fall of 2013.

Taylor adores princesses and tea parties and wanted to attend the Ball last year, but because she was in isolation she could not attend. It means the world to her that she is now able to attend this year’s Ball with her sister.

Thank you to everyone who donated to help Taylor have this magical day.
